One focus of the accountability and professional development department is to provide timely and accurate information to the schools and district for informed decision-making. We aim to provide information that supports continuous improvement of our academic and operational services. There are multiple accountability measure that the district is responsible for, it is our responsibility to guide, inform, and support in these areas.
Upper Arlington students annually participate in district-wide and state-wide testing. This information helps us to assess the overall achievement of our students, the efficacy of our schools and the rigor of our curriculum.
If you have questions about district or state testing, please feel free to contact Data & Accountability Coordinator Mark Saelzler, your child’s building principal, school counselor, classroom teacher.
Benchmarking student achievement and monitoring progress are critical parts of providing a high quality education. This information helps guide our teachers in supporting students' educational needs, and planning instruction accordingly. It also allows us to measure the individual growth of our students, to gauge the success of the instruction, and to understand how students are responding to it. Upper Arlington City Schools has developed separate assessment pathways for each grade-level that teachers follow in order to ensure accuracy in this process. For information on the pathway that your child’s teacher will use to benchmark and progress monitor with various district assessments, click the appropriate grade level below.
