Community survey gathering feedback on team's initial findings

Before any decisions are made on how to proceed with the master plan and the needs for an operating levy in November, the district has launched a new online survey to gather feedback from residents on the initial findings by the Financial Advisory Board (FAB).

This FAB is a new team of community volunteers with significant experience in financial management and the management of considerable facilities and construction work.  Members spent time during the months of January and February reviewing the master plan as well as the district’s finances.

At the beginning of March, the FAB shared its initial draft findings report with its suggestions for the funding, phasing and scope of the master plan and the district's needs for operating funding.

The online community-wide survey, as well as a professional phone survey (including cellphones) that will begin on approximately April 10, will be among the data points the Financial Advisory Board will review in late April before finalizing its findings.

“We want as many community members as possible to share their thoughts through this online survey,” said Superintendent Paul Imhoff. “The voice of our community has been so important throughout this process, and no decisions will be made before we hear from our community.”

Imhoff and Treasurer/CFO Andrew Geistfeld shared the initial findings of the Financial Advisory Board through a series of meetings involving community volunteers who have dedicated many hours to this process by serving on building teams and residents who took the time to attend the community-wide meetings on Tuesday, April 4.

The feedback from the April 4 community meetings is also among the data points that will be reviewed by the Financial Advisory Board and district leaders before the FAB finalizes its findings and Imhoff and Geistfeld make their recommendations to the Board of Education on how to proceed with the master plan and the district’s needs for operating funding.

The results of the community feedback, the final findings of the Financial Advisory Board and the recommendations by the superintendent and treasurer will be presented at the Board of Education meeting on May 9 in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Services Center, 3600 Tremont Rd.

The Board of Education will take action on the June 6, 2017, meeting on the recommendations of the superintendent and treasurer. If the recommendations are approved, the Board of Education would consider a first resolution to place a combined operating levy and bond issue on the November ballot.
