A Letter from the Principal
Matt Petersen
o A special thank you to Betsey Eastwood, Amy Heller and the PTO Board for their financial and personal support of our programs. Through their efforts we continue to offer students a variety of social and academic activities not provided for in the regular school day. To all the committee chairpersons, I say thank you for the countless hours you put into organizing fund raisers, class parties and volunteer services. The ongoing partnership with PTO is valued by all of us at Jones. Thanks again!

o Bruce Brombacher: The JMS Math teaching legend will be retiring after 35 years of delivering quality math instruction, compassionate student mentoring, and positive staff leadership, . We'll miss you Bruuuuuce!

o Summer Office Hours: Remember that teachers and counselors do not have contracts during the summer and are in the building on their own time during the summer. Administrators, secretaries and custodians are in the building all summer long. We do run special summer hours, so call before you come by to make sure the person you need to see is available.

Last Week of School: We will run a very tight ship during the last week of school to ensure that our attention continues to be directed toward academic endeavors. Students must continue to report to school on time. Few, if any, passes for leaving classrooms during the day, will be approved during that week.

Last Day Morning Procedures: Backpacks, book bags, etc. will be randomly checked to ensure that students are not bringing inappropriate items to school. On the last day of school, Thursday, June 4, teachers and administrators will check all incoming backpacks and book bags for inappropriate items. Students should refrain from bringing backpacks and book bags on the last day.

Last Day Dismissal Procedures: We will dismiss by grade levels. Students will be escorted out of the building and will not be permitted to return that day, with the exception of the current 8th grade.
o The 8th grade will leave at 2:00 PM to return at 3:30 PM for Recognition Day (See Below)
o The 7th grade will be dismissed at 2:45 PM and will not be permitted back in the building.
o The 6th grade will be dismissed at 3:15 PM and will not be permitted back in the building.
o Buses will follow their regular schedule

Students who need to return to the building to look for lost and found articles, collect forgotten items, or conduct official business may do so on Friday, June 5th.

8th Grade Recognition Day: 8th Grade Recognition will be held at 4:00 PM in the Auditorium at Jones. Students will attend classes and eat lunch as usual. Beginning 7th period, the students will assemble in the gym to practice. Then they will be excused to go home and prepare for the afternoon event. The schedule for the day is printed below. Attire for Recognition Day is dressy. Boys should wear a shirt and tie; suits and jackets are not necessary. Girls should wear blouses and skirts or dresses (regular length, no mini, please).
