HOOPS FOR A CURE

On April 25, 2008, the staff of Hastings took on the staff of Jones Middle School in a fun-filled basketball game to raise money for the cause of defeating cancer. All money raised from Hoops For a Cure will be donated to The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital. See photos from the big game here.

Mr. Richards Wins "Legion of Honor Award"

Mr. Bill Richards, House 8A social studies teacher, received the "Legion of Honor Award" from The Four Chaplains Memorial Foundation. Mr. Richards was nominated for this award by Chaplain Herbert M Goetz, USN, Retired. Chaplain Goetz nominated Bill for his numerous humanitarian efforts, particularly the coordination that he and his wife, Bobbi, provide for Honor Flight, transporting World War II veterans to Washington, DC free of charge on monthly flights. Mr. Richards will officially receive the award during the Hastings 8th grade class trip to Washington, DC on May 21. The presentation will be made during a ceremony held, fittingly, at the World War II Memorial.

Hastings Robotics Team Appears on "Good Day Columbus"

The TV program "Good Day Columbus" from Fox 28 came to Hastings today to air seven live segments from within the classrooms of the Hastings Technology Education facilities.  The program showcased the National Robotics Challenge being held in Marion on March 7th and 8th.  See photos from the event.

"Wave Cafe" Photos

This week Hastings hosted the Wave Cafe, a breakfast fundraiser for Honor Flight. Honor Flight is a non profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices. Veterans are flown to Washington, DC to visit and reflect at their memorials. Photographs from the Wave Cafe.
