Welcome to the Greensview Library!

Mrs. Cheryl Cartwright, Library Teacher/Librarian
Mrs. Norene Zeitler, Library Clerk

The mission of the library media program of the Upper Arlington Schools is to be our patrons' link between classroom learning and the literature and information available in the world. The librarians forge this link by providing students and staff with an information-rich environment including technology, experiences and instruction of superior quality.

Your child regularly comes to the library with his/her class for a lesson and to check out materials. Kindergarten through second grade classes come every week; third through fifth grade classes come every other week. And all students are welcome to visit the library and use its resources as needed.

Some of the lessons Mrs. Cartwright teaches in the library are: literature appreciation and analysis; how to select materials for both pleasure and research; how to use various resources (both print and electronic); how to search the Internet, and how to locate reputable and relevant Internet sites. The students spend the first few classes introducing and reviewing the rules for behavior and borrowing. Here are some of Greensview Library's rules:

*Students may check out books, magazines and audiobooks for 2 weeks.

*Materials must be kept in a safe place, away from food and water, little siblings who might tear or color in the books, or puppies that might chew on the pages. Please help your child find a safe and readily available place to keep their library books. Some safe places are your child's nightstand, a special corner in the family bookshelf, or your child's backpack.

*Printed notices will be sent home when materials are overdue. If your child receives an overdue notice and thinks that the item was already returned, please have your child bring the notice to the library. This helps us tremendously in locating the item.

*With their classroom teacher's permission, a student is ALWAYS welcome to come to the library anytime (not just their library day) to return an item and check out something new. Avid readers can get rather grouchy if they don't have something wonderful to read at all times - and we have many avid readers here at Greensview!

All students at Greensview have free access to many high quality, educational, reputable, kid-friendly internet sites. These sites are carefully selected by professional school librarians and teachers. Some of these sites are password-protected and paid for by Greensview, the Upper Arlington School District or the Ohio State Legislature. Your student will need to stop by the library to get a bookmark containing the passwords and logins. These passwords are only to be used by Greensview students so please help your student be ethical, responsible and trustworthy and do not give these passwords to others.

If you have any questions please feel free to email or call Cheryl Cartwright, at 487-5050, ext. 109.
