Please take the survey by clicking on this link Take a look at the Summer Reading List for 2008. Ninth graders will read Whale Talk by Chris Crutcher. It’s a compelling story and such down-to-earth characters. Crutcher will be our visiting author in September. Check out the New Books link for more books by Crutcher. A May 2, 2008, New York Times op-ed by David Brooks entitled “The Cognitive Age” caught our attention because of its application to research in the 21st century. The “scooping and smushing” (Jaime McKenzie), “cutting and pasting” topical research isn’t what employers will be looking for in our graduates. Brooks refers to what is happening as the “skills revolution.” Brooks claims that “We’re Continue to read the “Favorite UAHS Authors” link through PageFlakes.
